ThankYouX‘s groundbreaking digital art will be brought to Korea through worldwide art platform Artue, in an exciting move for art fans. ThankYouX’s debut solo show in the country will be on display at Shinsegae’s BOONTHESHOP Cheongdam flagship store from September 7 to October 8, 2023.
ThankYouX, who began in street art, has quickly emerged as a prevailing figure in Web 3.0 art, which combines traditional art with digital innovation. Visitors to the Seoul exhibit will be able to see nine artworks, with the standouts being “My Escape” – a fusion of digital art and music, and “Come Find Me” – an unusual fusion of digital and physical art forms.
The name “ThankYouX” originates from the streets of Los Angeles. The artist began using stencil art to pay homage to pop art pioneer Andy Warhol. “ThankYouX” was a tribute to Andy Warhol (through “Thank You”) and the anonymity of street art (via “X”). Since then, the artist’s career has developed from geometric patterns on US streets to pioneering digital and physical art integration, most notably through the use of blockchain.
“State of the Art,” one of his game-changing initiatives, allowing art fans to interact with classic paintings through digital technology. Large-scale artworks were essentially split into digital tiles that clients could collect and even expand on. This approach not only made art more interactive, but it also provided a glimpse into the realm of NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens), a new type of digital asset ownership.
Artue, a tech business focusing on digitizing the art world, is behind this ground-breaking Korean exhibition. Their relationship with ThankYouX comes from a common goal: to enhance the art experience with modern technology, including blockchain.
If the exhibit is anything like images shared with press, ThankYouX’s “Odyssey” offers an art experience unlike any other, whether you’re a conventional art fan or a digital native.
