The art world and the spirits industry witnessed a remarkable fusion as Kimo Sabe Mezcal, the rapidly growing name in the mezcal market, launched a unique collection of original graffiti art bottles. The collection, which showcased the work of the anonymous urban artist, AtZ, was created in collaboration with American Fine Art and sold out on its opening night.
The Scottsdale, Arizona-based American Fine Art, renowned for representing internationally acclaimed artists such as Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Andy Warhol, Banksy, and now the enigmatic AtZ, played a significant role in the mezcal art project. Twenty bottles, each uniquely adorned with AtZ’s modern world-class art, were priced at a whopping $20,000 – and all found eager buyers on the very first night.
The one-of-a-kind series is an extraordinary embodiment of the intersection of modern art and the tradition of premium mezcal. The inclusion of the NFT (Non-Fungible Token) element in this venture highlights how contemporary trends are influencing both industries, adding a layer of authenticity and exclusivity to the collection.
Jim Walsh, CEO of Kimo Inc., emphasized that the collaboration aimed at bringing as much diversity in the bottles and the artwork as in the aged agave flavors that are part of their award-winning mezcal. “On opening night, collectors and spirit aficionados were overwhelmed by the beauty and electricity of the collection,” Walsh said. “The vision was to create a series of original bottles that combine art, culture, and mastery.”
Although the collection has already sold out, fans of Kimo Sabe Mezcal and AtZ’s distinctive style should not be disheartened. The company is preparing to unveil their next project – the “Sacred Heritage Collection.” This innovative venture will feature original hand-crafted indigenous healing art on bottles of its rare six-and-a-half-year-old Anejo.
As the worlds of art and fine spirits continue to intertwine, collectors and connoisseurs alike can look forward to these unique, boundary-pushing collaborations. The success of AtZ’s graffiti art mezcal bottles has set a new benchmark in this emerging field, signaling exciting times ahead.
